Link for pets and health post:

OP(original post)
Can we use pets as an intervention for ourselves and our patients?

There are a lot of studies on the physical and mental health benefits of having pets, apparently interacting with animals can reduce cortisol and much more....

I wonder how we can use our animal friends more in medicine?

For all Osler House guys, you may remember the kittens in the photo, and how they had captured our hearts while they were with us.

Here is an article about pets and health.

we will try to continue to add relevant articles or experiences in the comments.

Thank you!

P.S will be finding a better way to share links soon

we will keep adding resources and references

In our 3rd year of Medical School in JIPMER, these 4 kittens were born to the hostel cat, and the family began to live initially in one of our friend's rooms and then they were shifted to the courtyard and garden of our hostel.
The boys absolutely adored the kittens and it became a common stop for all the Oslerites to visit the kittens and play with the.
I recall the kittens were named Augustine, Talitha, Annie, and Alfonso(I think).
The presence of the kittens definitely positively impacted everyone in the hostel and gave everyone a wholesome pastime.
Retrospectively I think we can say that it was mental and physical health intervention that took place in our hostel, and we should study and learn about such wholesome and potentially helpful interventions for the improvement of our mental and physical health.
